Adding Club Players previous - next

Add a player to your club list...

Click the Players link on the main menu to open the Player List Manager:

Click the Add Player link.

When you submit a player name, the program will search for any existing players with the same (or similar) name. If none are found you will go directly to the Add New Player page.

The top section of this form is global player info (available to any club). Please try to fill this section as completely and accurately as possible. It will help other club directors identify your players when they play at other clubs.

The middle section is player address book info. This info is optional and only available to the director who entered the data. It's a handy place to keep your club player info easily accessible through the Internet.

The bottom section club-specific info to help organize your player lists. These items can be very useful if you're running large tournaments and have a few hundred players in your club list.

The Active checkbox will mark a player as active or inactive. Players marked inactive remain in the database and can be reactivated at any time.

The Club Attendance setting groups your players by:

  • Local - Plays often at regular club events.
  • Regional - Plays occasionally at club events.
  • Wide - Only shows up at major club events.

The Tournament Level is the level a player normally plays at your club. The options are Open, Advanced, Intermediate, and Novice.

The List1, List2, and List3 checkboxes are to create custom lists. They allow you to mark and group players arbitrarily (like paid membership, for example).

Be sure to click the Add Player button when you're finished filling in the form.

Importing players to your list...

When you submit a player name which closely matches a name already in the database, the program will show you a list of the likely matches.

Here a request for "Greg Marrymen" turns up "Greg Merriman" as a possible match. Of course you really meant "Greg Merriman" from Ann Arbor, but your spelling was a little off, so click the little button next to "Greg Merriman" and then click Use Selected Name.

The idea here is to use an existing player name (from another club) when you know he's the same player who also plays at your club.

If you have 2 different players with identical names, it's a good idea to add a middle name or initial or nickname to help keep track of which Joe Smith to use in your tournament results.
