At
some time you may host an event that allows player re-entry
in a bracket. This is quite common with blitz and knockout
events in large tournaments. Suppose you have a drawsheet that
looks
like this:
1. Janice Ondabar
2. Everett Beaver
3. Ruth Rueful
4. Rocky Raccoon
5. Harry Hustler
6. Everett Beaver*
7. Honest Abe
8. Rocky Raccoon*
Everett
Beaver and Rocky Raccoon lost early and decided to re-enter.
To get a
bracket list that looks like this, add players up to (but
not including) the first re-entry:

Then add the remainder
of the list starting with the first re-entry:

Now you have a bracket
that matches the drawsheet.

Now you have a bracket
that matches the drawsheet.
Recording
matches with player re-entries
You have to be careful
when recording matches with re-entries because a player exists
more than once on the list. Here we have #002 Everett Beaver
and #006 Everett Beaver. When you record Janice Ondabar beating
Everett Beaver in the first round, make sure to select #002
Everett Beaver and not #006 Everett Beaver.
If you have the rare
instance of a player entering more than once and winding up
paired up against himself in a later round (or a playoff bracket)
just
treat the match as a bye.
